The blocked dates feature allows you to mark off days that you don't want recurring lessons to be scheduled on. This allows you to setup events at the start of the school term (such as national holidays, spring break, etc.), then schedule your recurring lessons and My Music Staff will know to skip the dates with holidays.

Here's how to create a new blocked date category:

  1. Navigate to the “Calendar” from the main menu on the left.
  2. Click the “Categories” button above the calendar.
  3. Click the green “+ New Category” button.
  4. Enter a name for your new category (ex. Studio Closure, Vacation, New Years Day, etc.).
  5. Enable the "Blocked Dates" option by selecting the checkbox.
  6. Click "Save".

You can create as many blocked categories as you need, and you can be as broad or as specific as you'd like.

To schedule a blocked date (vacation, holiday, etc.):

  1. Navigate to the “Calendar” from the main menu on the left.
  2. Click on the date in question and select "Add Event" from the popup.
  3. For the "Teacher" selection, choose "No Teacher - Entire Studio" from the drop-down menu. This step does not apply to single teacher accounts.
  4. "Visibility" should be set to "Public".
  5. From the "Category" drop-down, select your blocked date category (ex. Vacation).
  6. Duration should be set to "All Day".
  7. If the vacation or holiday repeats, select "This event repeats on a regular basis."
  8. Click "Save".

Note: If you add blocked dates to your calendar after you've already scheduled lessons, My Music Staff will not automatically remove existing lessons. You will need to manually cancel any existing lessons on newly added holidays. (This was done intentionally to eliminate the risk of removing scheduled lessons if you make a mistake when adding blocked dates.)
